Coaching at Bosmansdam High School

We provide sports coaching services throughout the school year

Connect Performance is proud to provide a significant amount of coaching to Bosmansdam High School in the northern suburbs of Cape Town.

Our team has led the school’s rugby programme since 2022, working from the senior Under 19 boys age group right through to the U14s in tandem with the school’s dedicated staff, with girls rugby introduced for the first time in 2023.

The Connect coaches are heavily involved across Bosmansdam’s other sports and activities too, including the girls netball and overall athletics programme.

Bosmansdam learners and staff also benefit from access to Connect’s coaching and bespoke, on-site gym beyond the school day and in the holidays.

This creates the perfect opportunity for those following our non-playing pathway to develop as young coaches in a developmental environment.

Working side-by-side, our mission is to uplift not just the school, but to put it at the heart of the local community for the benefit of all young people in the area.

We Coach Beyond The Sports Field

A holistic approach is essential to long-term youth development

What excites us most about the partnership between Connect and Bosmansdam is our collaboration in nurturing learners as people first.

The chosen sport or activity of each young person involved is a vehicle to help develop an independent, self-motivated individual, ready to enter the professional adult world.

Connect plays a key role in Life Orientation lessons throughout the whole school, using the existing curriculum and the gifts of sport and exercise to nurture South Africa’s next generation.

We also collaborate to provide a positive, challenging and developmental outlet for young people either from non-mainstream educational backgrounds, or those that attend schools not competing in competitive local sports leagues.

This includes the young members of the Connect Academy programme, particularly those who were part of our original intake in our formative days working primarily in the township of Khayelitsha, who were unable to benefit from our past efforts to facilitate scholarships at local schools including SACS, Rondebosch Boys’ High School and Bishops.

These opportunities extend to those matriculating and transitioning from school into adulthood, with Connect Academy working particularly closely with those in the 18-22 age bracket, nurturing employable young adults on and off the field.
