Our first tour rugby fixture of 2023
Connect Academy’s athletes kicked off an exciting programme of incoming rugby tour fixtures on Wednesday 12 April, against Silcoates School from England.
The middle of the West Yorkshire school’s three matches on their visit to South Africa, it was a fixture that also served as a final tune up for the school rugby season for many of the Connect side, who also represent Bosmansdam High School in the Western Cape schools league.
It wasn’t just the boys either, with the girls playing several netball matches against Bosmansdam.
We even enjoyed our first official post-match function at our new home in Cape Town’s northern suburbs, thanks to our partners at the school and our friends at Edwin Doran Sports Tours.
Best wishes to everyone from Silcoates – we hope your students and staff had a wonderful time in our country, leaving with plenty of memories and inspiration to take into the future.
There are plenty more fixtures are already confirmed for Team Connect in July and August against touring teams from Ireland, England and Scotland.

Our Connect Academy mission is to provide access to resources and opportunities through sport to those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The chance to play multiple touring fixtures every year in rugby and netball helps us to do exactly that for our young people, who thrive on meeting their peers from across the globe.
Donations made by many of the touring schools, meanwhile, form a vital part of our income as a non-profit company and we have been blown away by the support we have received over the years.

SuperSport Schools partnership means you can follow all the action
You can watch our fixtures against our Edwin Doran Sports Tours throughout the season, thanks to our partnership with SuperSport Schools.
Their support since 2022 allows us to stream matches live through the free SS Schools App, as well as on the SS Schools website.
Games then remain on the app and website for you to catch up with at a time to suit you, so you can always cheer on your family member or friend from afar!
